So last night I was re-watching a video of Ze Frank’s talk at the T.E.D. That led to me spending most of the evening watching tons of videos both Ze and talks from the T.E.D conferences. I particularly was focused on speakers talking about the nature of creativity. In doing this I became more annoyed with myself.
Lately I’ve been very grumpy. This is cyclical for me. Many times its borne out of frustration of wanting to create something, wanting to use this internal energy to be creative. This issue becomes I can’t think of how to manifest that creativity. On a certain level I’m stuck. I want to do something but I don’t know what that something is. Its hard to describe the buzzing sensation that occurs, wanting to build but not knowing where to start, also the fact that I become bored within minutes when I do start something. So inevitably I look around after awhile and see bunch of smalls piles of unfinished projects. Designs for clothing, photos, half written prose all scattered amongst the detritus that is my living space.
So here’s the solution; I am using this blog space as the creative outlet. I am asking all of you friends and strangers that read this to contribute. I believe in the creative community of the internet and I thrive on structure so here is the proposal.
In the comments suggest a creative project for me to complete. In that suggestion be as specific or vague as you want. Be sure to tell me what medium it should be in. Also give me a deadline. Deadlines could me as short as 1 hour or as long as a couple months. However keep in mind I do have a full time job so suggesting I create a quilt in 4 hours may not be feasible. I will post the results here and give you credit for your suggestions.
